A brief discussion on six tips for wild fishing in summer

1. Choice of weather
In early summer, it is best to go fishing on a sunny day with good wind and sunshine. Of course, cloudy days with temperatures between 10°C and 25°C and southeasterly winds of Level 2-3 or two or three days after showers are also suitable weather for fishing. I do not recommend fishing in weather that alternates between hot and cold and with large temperature differences between day and night. Weather with no wind, sultry heat, sudden strong winds, low temperatures or heavy rain are also not suitable for fishing.
2. The choice of time
Under normal circumstances, the hours from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m. and from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in early summer are the most active times for fish to look for food. In the morning of early summer, the air is fresh and the water temperature is suitable. Fish often swim near the shore to look for food boldly, which is very conducive to fishing at this time. 10 am to 2 pm is the peak period of water temperature in the day. At this time, most fish are full and exhausted, and larger fish are not willing to take risks to feed during this period, so it is not suitable to go out at this time. fishing. After 4 p.m., the warm water drops to a temperature suitable for fish to feed, so this period is the best time to fish after the morning. In relatively secluded waters such as reservoirs, lakes, and mountain ponds, there are still many fish swimming and looking for food even between 7 and 9 pm, especially silver carp, bighead carp, carp, grass carp, and dace. and carnivorous catfish and other fish. This phenomenon will be particularly obvious if the temperature suddenly rises.
3. Deployment of fishing groups
For wild fishing in early summer, the fishing rod should be a 4.5-meter or 5.4-meter soft-adjustable rod, which can buffer and protect the main line and sub-line when catching medium and large fish. The line set used with this kind of fishing rod must be thick and strong. The main line is preferably No. 2.0-2.5, and the sub-line is preferably No. 1.0-1.5 nylon line with good flexibility. The requirements for buoys in wild fishing are not too high. You can choose conventional vertical buoys or three or four seven-star buoys. When adjusting the fishing rig, it is best to make the upper hook suspended, the bottom hook standing slightly tilted, and lightly touching the bottom. It is best to use an "O"-shaped rubber ring at the lower end of the lead pendant to connect the sub-lines. Such a soft connection is more stretchable and can effectively buffer the pulling force of big fish.
In early summer and May, the climate in the northeastern region where the author is located is not bad, but it is the yellow plum season in the south of the Yangtze River. The sultry weather before thunderstorms increases, the air pressure decreases significantly, and the amount of dissolved oxygen in the water decreases significantly. Silver carp, bream and other middle and pelagic fish The phenomenon of "floating head" begins to appear. At this time, the fish will find it difficult to even breathe, and its food intake will naturally decrease sharply. At this time, even if there are fish coming to ask for bait, most of them are "exploring" or "testing", and very few eat the bait. In this case, the normal fishing adjustment method of “adjusting 4 and fishing 2” is difficult to make the buoy feel “sudden” and will also greatly reduce the fish catching rate. In my opinion, at this time, the fishing adjustment method of “adjusting 5 meshes to fish for flat water” should be adopted. In calm weather, the fishing adjustment method of “adjusting 6 meshes to fish 1” can also be adopted.
4. Selection of fishing positions
In early summer, when the temperature reaches 10℃-25℃, fish do not move in deep water areas, but in medium and shallow waters with a depth of 1-2 meters. This requires fishermen to continue fishing as in spring. shoal. When fishing in a pond or lake, fish in the middle, toward the sun, and against the wind, but not downwind. It is best for us to choose fishing locations in waters close to livestock farms or waters where people often dump leftovers and pig and duck scraps. Of course, old fishing spots where people often fish in all seasons or around cage feeding points are also good choices.
5. Selection of bait
Although fish in early summer have no special requirements for the meat and vegetables in their nest materials and baits, fishermen should still master the skills of mixing meat and vegetarian baits. If you use red worms, blood worms or earthworms and other meat baits like fishing in spring, the small miscellaneous fish will make the fishermen dizzy; if you use all plain bait, because the water bottom temperature is still a little low at this time, the fish will not be eaten with plain bait. The bait will be very slow to release into the nest, and may even cause the nest to not be released for a long time. Therefore, I suggest fishing friends add some fishy additives such as red worms, shrimp powder, and silkworm chrysalis powder to the plain nest material. This can make the nest grow faster and gain more opportunities to catch fish in the limited time. .
As for the choice of bait, we must also adapt to local conditions. The “adaptation to local conditions” mentioned here means that the bait must conform to the taste of the local target fish. For example, when fishing in fishing grounds surrounded by vegetable fields, orchards, and woods, there are many insects around such fishing grounds, so it is easy to catch carp, grass carp, catfish, snakehead fish, etc. by fishing with meat bait. If you are fishing in a small reservoir where people are feeding, you should choose steamed corn steamed buns, mixed with sugarcane sludge fertilizer and distiller's grains as bait; if you are fishing in a large area of water where ducks and other poultry swim, you should choose steamed corn buns. Mix corn steamed buns with duck feed, add some fried peanut powder and soybean powder and mix them as bait. If fishermen mainly fish for grass carp and carp, they can directly use steamed corn dough as bait; if fishermen want to float fish for silver carp, they can add some distiller's grains, sour vinegar and stinky fermented bean curd to the bait.
6. Watching the drift and lifting the pole
In early summer, fish bite the hook with urgency, fierceness and speed. Therefore, we must learn to accurately grasp the floating phase of the fish biting the hook and the timing of lifting the rod. When using traditional fishing methods to catch the bottom, there are three main signs of crucian carp biting the hook: sending the bid, sinking the bid and leading the bid. When the target phase appears, the moment when the tail of the target rises to pause is the most profound moment for the fish to swallow the hook, and it is also the best time to lift the rod; if fishing 2 mesh, when the fish bites the hook and sinks, the top of the tail is just right The moment when the fish submerges the hook is the moment when the fish swallows the hook the deepest. At this time, you should raise the pole without hesitation to stab the fish; when the fish bites the hook and drives the buoy to move laterally, as long as the tail buoy slowly moves about 10 cm in a certain direction distance, you should seize this opportunity to lift the pole in time.
Although the feeding movements of fish in early summer are greater than in spring, they are still much smaller than in midsummer, so we must lower the float and continue fishing for spirits as in spring. If you see the buoy lowering by 1 mesh or rising by 1 mesh, you must seize the opportunity to lift the rod quickly. If the buoy is blocked or sent to the upper mesh, the opportunity to catch fish will be delayed. During wild fishing in early summer, we can judge the strength of the fish by observing the up and down movement of the buoy. If the buoy moves slowly and in small increments, it is a small fish that is seeking bait. If the buoy has a strong pause or moves up quickly, it will bite the hook. Most of them are big fish.
